Sick again

Ok so we were one week sick free- thats the record so far since about mid November.  Last night around 1 am Hutson started freaking out in his bed so Jer brought him down to ours- about 15 minutes later he is throwing up all over my pillow.  argh.  So we get him all cleaned up, change the sheets, get him settled down in his own bed.  About an hour later- blech again in his bed.  Jer was like a veteran dad last night- he got him all cleaned up again and took the sheets off the bed and what not.  But then Hut wanted to stay up and play, poor Jerry.  I think they were up from about 1 to 330-4ish.  I feel so bad for the little man, I don't know if he just ate something that didn't agree with him or if he has a little bug or something.  Jer took him to Starbucks this morning to get his caffeine fix and to get Hut a little fresh air.  Of course they took my car- I am keeping my fingers crossed that I don't have to clean that out when they get home.  So now I am just doing laundry laundry laundry and a little damage control to the carpet that happened last night.

Hoping that we can fit in a little cat nap today!

Lily's visit

We are finally over being sick and contagious!  Yea!  We pretty much haven't left the house since Wednesday and we have all been a little cabin feverish.  So to get some human contact in, we invited Jeff, Lee and Lily over to hang out this afternoon.

Side Bar- Jerry got a new smoker/roaster and we did pulled pork and beer can chicken last night and it seriously was the best meat ever!  We had a ton of leftovers and Lee was willing to come without the leftovers, but I did have to bribe Jeffery (but that is pretty much the norm anyway).

Hutson desperate for another kid to play with pretty much attacked Lily the second she walked in the door and didn't stop until they left.  He has gotten into wrestling and playing rough lately, poor Lily did not like it at all.  I think she was crying at least 2/3 of the time they were here.  I think she is going to need to toughen up if she wants to play with us.

***I forgot to fix the red eye on Hutson in one picture, darn it, I am usually not that sloppy.  Please forgive me.

Books

Books.  I love books.  I love to read and I love to collect books- I know, I'm a huge dork.  I am a huge fan of the library- but there is something about collecting books and having a book shelf bursting at the seams that I love.  I think it has something to do with my obsession with paper.  For those of you that don't know- I am completely obsessed with paper but that is a topic for another post.  Anyway, our good friend Dr. S gave us this huge box of books for the boys.  This is a total score!  There are a ton of Boxcar Children and Hardy Boys books which I loved as a kid- I can only hope my boys with love to read too.  Hutson's bookshelf is already full, yikes.  So I guess I will need to have a new one built for the playroom, (ahem Jerry Sr.).

Current favorite book of Hutson's- Green Eggs and Ham (we read this at least 2x per day)

Current book I'm reading- The Savage Detectives by Roberto Bolano
Great book!  Thanks AB.

Hello

So I am working on changing the look of the blog, which is becoming a little time consuming, but anyway stay tuned for some new changes and some new additions... One of my Christmas presents from the ol' balls and chain was a video camera.  There are all these new pocket video cameras that have been on the market in the last year and I am finally getting one.  Now if it would ever get here!  argh.  I ordered it like 2 weeks ago online.  I actually have been doing a bit of online shopping lately, I love coming home and seeing packages at the door!  However, its getting to be an expensive little addiction that needs to be put to rest.  Also I plan on 'writing' more on the blog this year than I have in the past.  I like to post pictures and leave it at that- but I know people are also wondering what is happening with us, and a lot of that can't be explained through pictures, although that does present an interesting challenge.  hmmm.  I will have to mull that over.

I have some exciting news, Wheeler slept from 7pm to 530am!  It has been a rough couple of months for sleep lately.  Wheeler must have been going through a growth spurt or something because he was eating at 11 pm, 2 am, 5 am and about 730 am.  However, we have recently introduced solids to his diet and it seems to help keep him full and sleep longer.  We pretty much skipped the rice cereal step, he wouldn't eat it.  He would just give me a look and spit it out.  Have you ever tried that stuff? It is absolutely horrible- yuck!  So we pretty much went straight to baby food, Hutson was the same way.  So far our favorite is Sweet Potatoes with Peas as a close second, and we eat that at lunch and dinner.

Hutson hasn't been sleeping well either- he gets up at least once a night, and usually ends up sleeping with one of us.  I know there are people reading this thinking that having your child sleep with you is horrible and that we need to break him of it, but its what works for us.  Well I don't know that I would say that it 'works' for us, but it works for him, and I would rather be a little tired than have him tired all day long.

We have also had quite a rough couple of months with being sick.  So far since November we have had 3 ear infections, 3 colds and possible sinus infection ( I decided to just ride it out instead of going to the dr., probably not the best choice), bronchiolitis, RSV, croup cough, impetigo.  To top it all of Jerry is on his way home from Primacare with some random bacterial infection as I am writing this.  As much as I love this time of year and I am a fan of cold weather, I am so ready for the flu season to be over.  On today and tomorrows agenda- bleaching the house top to bottom.  I am going to get rid of any little sicky germs left in this house.  I already stripped the beds today and washing sheets.  Next up is disinfecting toys and the housekeeper is coming today.  whew.

We are babysitting my parents baby's this weekend- Humphrey and Sherman.  Willie and Waylon are so excited for their weekend long play date.  Thank goodness we have a very large backyard, because I am not so sure what I would do with 450 lbs of dog running around my house, I can barely handle half that on a regular basis.  Although I think it is supposed to rain this weekend so they may all be inside the house anyway.  Stay tuned for pictures next week.

Sorry no pictures on the post today, but I will try for pictures on the next post.

Sunday Afternoon

Today we have just been lazing around.  Well besides a trip to Sams Club and target.  In this top picture the only way I could get him to smile was to tell him to say "Hi Grammy".  (Grammy is what he calls Donna, Jerry's mom)  We keep telling him that his Grammy and Papa are coming to visit in a couple of months for his birthday, and he gets very excited.

Hanging out and playing with daddy.

Hanging out with Dad

This is how Jerry watches Wheeler.
However, Wheelie doesn't seem that unhappy with the situation.

Big Boy Hutson

Uh... not quite sure what I am supposed to do here.

In 2010 we will be potty trained!  We are working on getting Hutson comfortable with the potty.  Several people have said to just let him run around naked for 3 days and he will potty train himself.  I just dont know if I can handle that route.  I am sure I will have great stories to share as we go through this process.  I will be sure to keep you all posted.  :)
